AUGUST IS RHODE ISLAND'S OFFICIAL
RHYTHM & BLUES HERITAGE MONTH! The Rhode Island
Rhythm & Blues Preservation Society in association
with the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame will
celebrate the Eighth Anniversary of this great
tradition by presenting DANCING IN THE AFTERNOON
starring SOUL UNIT, one of southern New England's
finest R&B bands. Their repertoire stretches from
the classics to the contemporary and a rockin' good
time is guaranteed for all. All proceeds will go to
support the preservation and educational mission of
the R.I. R&B Society so put on your dancin' shoes
and join the celebration at THE MET, Hope Artiste

12 pm: Guided Tour of the Rhode Island Music Hall of
Fame - Enjoy
a guided tour through 200 years of Rhode Island's
rich and diverse musical heritage through the
museum’s four dozen life-size exhibits spanning two
centuries of Rhode Island music history with RIMHOF
archivist Rick Bellaire. FREE.

PAWTUCKET – The Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame (RIMHOF)
held a
press
conference
on
Friday,
February
12,
announcing
its 2016
inductees. Members of the RIMHOF Board of Directors, many past
inductees, and fans and family were on hand to
welcome the eight new inductees into the Hall of
Fame. Inductees include: Greg Abate, Bill Harley,
Young
Adults,
Fabulous
Motels,
Sugar
Ray and
the
Bluetones,
Richard
Walton,
Frankie
Carle,
Carl
Henry,
Carol
Sloane,
and Rudy
Cheeks.

The Rhode Island
Music Hall of Fame is a nonprofit dedicated to
celebrating, honoring, and preserving the legacy of
Rhode Island musicians, educators and industry
professional who have made significant contributions
to the national and Rhode Island music scene. The
Hall will carry out its mission through the annual
election of inductees, creation of a museum of
artist- and music-related exhibits honoring inductees
and commemorating the state's musical legacy, and an
online music archive of information about, and audio
recordings by, those involved in Rhode Island's past
and present music scene.
In addition, the Hall is
committed to continuing that legacy by supporting programs and services aimed at promoting and
strengthening Rhode Island's current and future
music scene and ensuring that music continues to
play an important role in the lives of all Rhode
Islanders.
